Inkspirations Challenge #36 - Sweet Pea

Hello again, I have just been lucky enough to have a holiday in Tassie which also included some crafting time!  :)

While I was away, I managed to make an entry for Keesh's current colour challenge.  You can check out Keesh & the DT's wonderful inspirations pieces & the other fantastic entries here.

Here are the yummy colours:-

& here is my card:-

These are three of my favourite colours & I thought they would work really well with this pretty image by Ching-Chou Kuik, called "Love is Gone".

I have used the brilliant jewellery tag punch for the sentiment, which is part of the "just for you" from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments set.  The main image was stamped with Black "Forever" Ink & watercoloured with stamp pad inks & aquapainters.  She has been "blinged" with Spica & gel pens.  If you click on the image you can see the glitter on her wings better.  :)

Card Components:
Carkstock:  Rich Razzleberry, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Stamps:  Love is Gone (by Ching-Chou Kuik), SU Teeny Tiny Sentiments, SU Priceless
Inks:  Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, Old Olive, So Saffron
Other:  SU Pastels (chalking on tag), Clear Spica Pen, Gold Spica Pen, Gel Glitter Pen (Razzleberry colour), Satin Ribbon, Jewellery Tag Punch, Tiny Circle Hand Punch

Inkspirations Challenge Guest Designer

Hi everyone.  This week I am very, very excited to be part of Keesh's amazing Design Team!  :)

This week Keesh has a sketch challenge for you to try:-

You can find all the DT's wonderful inspiration pieces & play along here.

Here is my take on the sketch:-

I have squished it up into a square shape & made a little presentation folder to hold some Deb photos & a DVD with video footage.

I have inked the main panel with Versamark ink & then clear embossed, giving a lovely shiny, raised finish.  The DVD (which has a "printable" surface) has been inked with StazOn with the same SU So Swirly Wheel.  The folder is held shut by a ribbon tie.

The photo & black mat have been cut with CM circle patterns & the scallop circle has been created & cut with my Robo.

You can check out the Design Team's work here:-

Thanks for inviting me to join the team Keesh!  :)

Project Components
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Black Finelines, Basic Black
Paper:  White Shimmer
Stamp:  SU So Swirly Wheel
Inks:  Versamark, Black StazOn
Other:  White Satin Ribbon, Black Satin Ribbon, Word Window Punch, Half Pearls,

50th Invites & Backpack

I recently made some invitations for a friend celebrating his 50th.  The theme was black, silver & stars.  Here are the invitations:-

The printing was computer generated & the stars were stamped in silver ink.  The "50" was cut from JAC paper, glittered, popped up on dimensionals & layered onto a black mat.  The invites were layered onto black cardstock with a magnet attached to the back.

On our friend's "TO DO" list was hiking the Kokoda Track, which he did a couple of weeks before his 50th.

He brought home lots of stories from his trip, one of them being how his backpack (specially purchased for this trip) was lost between Australia & Port Moresby, replaced, found, & then lost again between Port Moresby & the Track!

Therefore, I thought I would make a special card to commemorate (both the birthday & the trip):-

Here is a view of the back:-

The pack was large enough to hold two mini chocolate bars (Cadbury Furry Friends size) & a Gift Card:-

I made a pattern for the pack from scratch, making a sample from scrap paper, which I adjusted until I got the shape right.  The straps were inspired by those on a backpack you can find (here) at Splitcoast Stampers.  The backpack has lots of machine stitching & a tag with the recipient's name on it.  I printed out a tiny map of Kokoda & a bookcover, which I tucked into the front pocket.  I also made an acetate box to present the backpack in.

It was a great hit!

Project Components:
Cardstock:  Basic Black, Not Quite Navy, Basic Grey, Whisper White
Paper:  Photocopy Paper
Stamps:  Clear Cling Stars (?), SU Happy Birthday
Inks:  Silver Pigment Ink, Not Quite Navy
Other:  JAC Paper, Silver Glitter, Dimensionals, Magnetic Strip, Grosgrain Ribbon, Eyelets, Ball Chain

Helping Hudson Fundraiser

Sometimes life seems so unfair! - that's what I thought when I heard about a little boy called Hudson.

Meet Hudson. Hudson is 2½ but unlike most children his age, he has had a tough little life! Doctors realised he had an incomplete brain before he was born and as a newborn he was discovered to be legally blind. Hudson has recently been diagnosed with both Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. His mobility has been hindered severely by his disabilities, however his family and friends wish nothing more than to give him the chance to get moving on his own. Hudson needs a special Wheelchair/Walker, called a Kid Walker. This device will help get him mobile, allow him to play with his brother and sister, interact with other children his own age and give him independence in his day to day life.  Here is a picture of Hudson trying out a friend's Kid Walker.  How cute is this little fellow!

An amazing group of ladies from the SU family (Genna Gifford, Jo Sherry, Tina Gillespie, Gardenia Pepworth, Christine Blain, Sue Madex & Nikki Sadler) have joined together & organised a fantastic fundraiser to help raise funds for the purchase of a Kid Walker for Hudson. His story has touched so many people all over the world, so its time to share it with you too!

It’s true when they say that a little goes a long way, and I’m here to tell you about how a simple purchase of some fun-filled paper craft tutorials can give freedom to a little boy!

There is a HUGE online stamping event taking place, called Helping Hudson - A Wheely Great Cause! The organisers have been working really hard, securing support, tutorials and donations to get this event underway. There are going to be three weeks of stamping fun for you to join in – come back as often as you can, there will always be lots more to see, do and learn. It kicks off on the 1st August and will run right through until the 22nd. You’ll find it at http://helpinghudson.blogspot.com or by clicking on the link at the top of the sidebar.

When you come on over to the blog you’ll find out all about Hudson, his family and his cause! But, more importantly, you can DO SOMETHING TO HELP HUDSON, at the same time as helping yourself learn how to make some great new paper craft projects.

How? By purchasing bundles of tutorials kindly donated by Stampin’ Up! demonstrators the world over. Each bundle has 10 fun-filled tutorials for just AU$10! And there are six themes to choose from: Bags & Boxes, Christmas, Kids’ Birthdays, Projects for Men & Boys, Punch Art & Scrapbooking. There’s even a FREE bonus bundle if you buy four or more. WOW how exciting! All proceeds go directly to help Hudson.

The Helping Hudson Crew will also be posting some awesome challenges throughout the three weeks. For a small donation you can join in and be in the running for some FANTASTIC Stampin’Up! Prize packs, kindly donated by Stampin’ Up! Australia (Aussie participants only, sorry). Also keep your eyes peeled for challenges at Just Add Ink and also Stamp A Memory.

And we would love you to help spread the word too. Check out the ‘Spreading The Word’ page at the site for all you need to know to get the word out to as many people as you can.

C’MON LETS GET HUDSON MOVING!!!!!

Aloha!! Michelle Perkett's Studio Aloha DT Blog Hop

Aloha (Hello) everyone & welcome to the MPS Aloha DT Blog Hop!

The purpose of this Hop is to say a great big THANKYOU (Aloha) to all the ladies who have been members of Michelle's first two Design Teams.  These ladies have worked extremely hard over the past six months to bring us awesome challenges & wonderful & amazing inspirations pieces every week!  Thank you so much to Cabio, Carlie, Gini, Ileana, Jana, Jean, Kerri, Lynne, Nancy, Pattie, Rhonda, Tammy & Terri.

A big thank you to Michelle too, without her we wouldn't have such beautiful images to play with!!!  Thanks Michelle.

Michelle provided us with a cute image called Leilani to create our hop projects.  I have added Leilani to a card & a glass:-

The image on the glass has been cut from signwriter's vinyl & adhered to the glass - something to use so you can feel like you are on holidays every day!!!

The card is a little tote bag, perfect for someone heading off on a beach holiday.  (Wish that was me!)

It has been made from SU cardstock, covered with DSP & machine stitched around the edges.  Leilani has been printed onto watercolour paper, coloured with stamp pad inks & an aquapainter & then added to the tote with dimensional dots.

The card has an "exploding" insert, which opens out when you open the card - lots of fun for the recipient.  :)

Again, thank you very much to Michelle & her two great DTs.

Your next hop stop is at Marilyn's blog where you can see her fantastic card & gorgeous gift box.
A complete list of all the blogs on the hop can be found at Michelle's site (here).

(On a side note, if you like this style of card, a tutorial for similar cards is available at the Helping Hudson site.  This site has been created to raise funds to purchase a mobility aid for a little boy called Hudson who is faced with multiple challenges.  Your help would be much appreciated.  Thank you.)
