Still addINKtive Challenges - Just 3 Colours!

This week the challenge at still addINKtive is super easy!  Just three colours to combine:-

I love how rich these colours look, combined with my neutral, very vanilla.  I have whipped up a little fridge magnet calendar for my Mum ♥:-

I have used some more new products that will be available in the Seasonal Catalogue from February 1.  The soft suede & very vanilla layers have been die-cut, using the new oval framelits.  Then the river rock layer was cut by hand, using a craft blade, by running it around the outside edge of the same framelit die that was used to cut the vanilla layer.  The edges of the vanilla & river rock ovals have been sponged with river rock ink & the scalloped layer has been sponged with soft suede.

The leaves have been stamped with a fabulous new floral stampset & then cut with the matching die!  :)

The little bow was made from vanilla seam binding, which I dyed first, in a small ziplock bag which had a mix of rubbing alcohol & river rock re-inker in it.  I dunked a length of ribbon in the mix, then scrunched it up, squeezed out the excess liquid, spread it out to dry and then tied it in a bow.  The colour match was perfect!!!

The flowers are also a new seasonal product - ribbon flower trim.  I have snipped three blooms off the tulle backing ribbon & coloured them using a mister filled with rubbing alcohol & pink pirouette re-inker.  As the flowers dried, I added more colour to increase the intensity of colour & actually ended up with a pretty coral colour.  I have added pearls to the centre of each flower & then a sprinkling of the tiny pearls around the blooms.

We hope you can join us this week at still addINKtive with these pretty challenge colours.  The still addINKtive Design Team have some awesome projects for you to check out - you can find all the links HERE or HERE.

Still addINKtive Spot That Stamp Set #2 - Sale-a-bration Sets Part I

This week at still addINKtive we are featuring some of the new SALE-A-BRATION stamp sets (Patterned Occasions*, Pretty Petites* & Bloomin' Marvelous*).

I used the digital content from the One Big SAB 2013 Digital Disk to make my first card & had so much fun using it, that I created a further two cards, using components from all three stamp sets.  If you are interested in the construction process, I've added information to each photo.  If not, just check out the pictures & skip down to the paragraphs in red.  :)

Patterned Occasions

This card was created by bringing the PNG image from the SAB disk into Microsoft Publisher software.  I manipulated the image so that I had two cups, mirrored, with the top rims together.  I printed them out & cut by hand.  The steam was created by using a print out of the steam as a template for piercing a piece of acetate.  I then cut it out by hand, stamped the reverse side with my Versamark inkpad & heat set it with iridescent ice embossing powder.  The acetate curled up while it was being heated, but I flattened it out, by laying it on a flat work surface & giving it another quick blast of the heat gun & leaving it there to cool.  I placed a small slit in the fold of the card & threaded the base of the "steam" down through it.  There is an extra panel inside the card which covers this.  The sentiment was in a single line, but to fit it on the heart tag, I broke it up into three lines.  I printed the small image on the envelope to match as well.

This next one features lots of punching & embossing:-

Pretty Petites (sentiment) &
SAB Sycamore Street DSP

One of my favourite tools is the BIG SHOT.  Just about every card I make has one of more components that have seen some BIG SHOT love & this one is no exception!  I have used it to emboss all the solid squares with new embossing folders from the SAB brochure & the upcoming Seasonal Catalogue.  I have also die cut the small heart from the new whale sizzlit. ♥

ETA:  This card had been entered in the Just Add Ink "Big Shot Blog Hop & Challenge", but I removed the links earlier in the week when my submission was deleted.  You can see the fabulous DT projects, as well as the gallery of submissions HERE.  If you click on the graphic below, you can go straight to the Hop.  :)

This card was a personal challenge that I set for myself, as I always struggle combining patterned papers.  Seeing as this card has SIX prints, I think I achieved my goal, lol.  :)

Bloomin' Marvellous

Finally, this card is a whole new concept for me - a totally digital card (except for that wee heart) & the added blue mat.  It was rather quick & easy, & I had the option of resizing, spinning & reversing the images/elements to suit - gotta love that!

We hope you can join us at still addINKtive this week, by featuring one of these three* stamp sets in your project.  To add to the fun, just for joining us you will receive one free template (shown below) for each time you link up (up to 3 entries):-

You can see a larger version of each card HERE on Bron's blog.

As always, the still addINKtive Design Team have some fabulous projects to share with you & all the links can be found at the tab at the top of my blog or you can go straight to the challenge HERE.  We hope you can play along with us.  :)

Still addINKtive Challenge #2 - Sketch & Colour

Hello & welcome!  This week's challenge at still addINKtive is a sketch & colour combination:-

I have used some great products (from the new seasonal catalogue) to create a post it note holder in this awesome colour combo:-

The flower stamp is from the Secret Garden stamp set (which has matching dies - woohoo!)  The tickets are from the That's The Ticket stamp set & the small embossed cross stitch line is one of the embossing folders from the Needlepoint Border set (of 2).

I don't have any of the square or rectangular scalloped dies, so I created the background square using my edgelits die.

These colours look fabulous together, so I have teamed them with white to keep the palette nice & crisp.  The bonus was that I had a white post it note pad, as well as a turquoise mini gel pen to use for the project!  :)

We hope you can join our challenge this week at still addINKtive, by using the sketch OR the colours, OR both combined.  The rest of the still addINKtive team have some gorgeous samples to get your creative juices flowing!

still addINKtive - Spot That Stamp Set - Forever Young

This week at still addINKtive we are playing "Spot That Stamp Set!" & the set that is being featured is "Forever Young".  This set features a beautiful tree, male & female silhouette images, a cute cuckoo style clock & a sweet little frame.

The frame reminds me of a pair of antique, intricately carved & handpainted frames that my grandmother cherished, which had very convex glass in them. I have used crystal effects on the inner section of each frame to replicate this shaped glass & then, once the CE was dry, added the embellishments on top.  The inner border of each frame has been coloured with a pool party marker.  The frames have been fussy cut & popped up on dimensionals.

A tip when you are covering stamped images with CE - heat emboss them first, as this will help prevent the ink from bleeding.  :)

So to play along with us this week, you can link up any projects that you have created using this set. This means either old or new projects with a limit of 3 links per blog or website.

We hope you can join us in showcasing "Forever Young" at still addINKtive!  You can check out the "still addINKtive team" tab under my header to find the links to all the Design Team Member's blogs.  My teammates have a fabulous array of projects utilising this stamp set to get you inspired.  :)

Still addINKtive Challenge #1 - Colour & Sketch

Today is very exciting, as the very first challenge is being launched at still addINKtive & this is my DT project:-

Week 1 is a Sketch & Colour Challenge where you can use the sketch OR the colour palette, or use them both together:-

I have created a never ending card.  These are really quite easy to make, they just take a little extra time to put together.  The front panels open outwards to reveal:-

Then the central purple sections flip up & down to reveal:-

& then finally, these panels open outwards to reveal a section that I've left an open area to write on:-

When you flip these panels up & down respectively, you return to the front face.  I've used lots of masking on this card, as well as the gorgeous Illuminate inkpad (from the Holiday mini) to ink up the embossed panels & to stamp on the Perfect Plum squares in the inside section.  It gives a lovely, shimmery sheen!  :)

We hope you can join us at still addINKtive!  You can check out the "still addINKtive team" tab under my header to find the links to all the Design Team Members' blogs.  Bron, Kathy, Debbie, Lisa, Susan & Vicki have some fabulous inspiration pieces to get you motivated.  :)
