CTC68 - Sale-A-Bration Inspiration with Honeycomb Happiness

Hello & welcome to this week's CASE-ing the Catty's Blog Hop!

Each week the Crew members will take inspiration from a section or theme of the current Stampin' Up Catalogues to create their projects.  The acronym "CASE" stands for "Copy And Share Everything" or "Copy And Selectively Edit".

This week the CTC Crew are choosing a project from the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) catalogue to CASE.

I have done a mash-up of two cute bags - one on the bottom right of page 13 & the other on the top right of page 14:-

There were some design features that I really liked with both bags, so I created a gusseted bag to adorn.  You can easily hand fold one of these bags without any fancy tools at all.  I have used a mix of current & retired products here but one of the things I was keen to utilise was the die-cut "enjoy" sentiment from the mini treat bag dies.  There are so many extra options in the die sets that often get overlooked!

The cute little chick from the SAB Honeycomb Happiness set was coloured with Kathryn's clever method of using sponge daubers instead of watercolouring (see here & here)!  Rather than fussy cutting the chick after colouring, I snipped the chick shape out of a large "all-over" sticky note to cover my background & sponged  away into the chick opening.  Once he was coloured enough, I removed the mask to reveal the pristine white shimmer background.  :)

I ended up folding the top of my bag over to the back, but I did use the tiny wave rotary cutting blade on the stampin' trimmer to get a sweet little fancy edge.

Here are the bags that provided the inspiration:-

CASEing the Catty #67 - Birthday Bouquet DSP

Hello & welcome to this week's CASE-ing the Catty's Blog Hop!

Each week the Crew members will take inspiration from a section or theme of the current Stampin' Up Catalogues to create their projects.  The acronym "CASE" stands for "Copy And Share Everything" or "Copy And Selectively Edit".  :)

This week the CTC Crew are choosing a project from the Birthday Bouquet section of the Occasions Catalogue (p8-15) to CASE.

I was inspired by the card at the bottom right of page 8.  This card features three different Designer Series Papers from the Birthday Bouquet DSP pack.  Generally I don't seem to use a lot of DSP & you would would rarely find three different prints on a card I created, so I thought I would challenge myself to do just that.  I found a fun fold, called a quarter fold card & used that to create my project:-

You can find a video link to the construction method of these cards here.  Thank you to Jana O'Brien for sharing.  :)  I added print panels the entire length of each flap, so you can see more of the pretty DSP when you slide off the divine watermelon ribbon & open the flaps:-

This type of card would be fun to send to someone who has just moved house, with a message inside that says "thought you might like to open something other than a packing box!"  :)

I stamped the inside panel with a little chain of hearts to mimic the image on the bunting print:-

Here is the card that inspired my project this week (bottom right):-

Balloon Builder Punch & Botanicals for You for CASE-ing the Catty #66

Hello & welcome to this week's CASE-ing the Catty's Blog Hop!

Each week the Crew members will take inspiration from a section or theme of the current Stampin' Up Catalogues to create their projects.  The acronym "CASE" stands for "Copy And Share Everything" or "Copy And Selectively Edit".  :)

This week the CTC Crew are choosing another project from the Sale-A-Bration catty to CASE.

I was inspired by the projects on page 14, using the layout on the top left & the theme of balloons, which features in two of the projects:-

The colour palette comes from the "Cherry On Top" Designer Series Paper stack.  I have punched five small balloons from the Balloon Builder punch & coated them with Crystal Effects, resulting in gorgeous, glossy balloons.  My best tip for using Crystal Effects is be patient!  Work out what you want to coat, sit it on a silicone mat, cover with Crystal Effects & then walk away!!!!  Most importantly - don't touch it until the next day.  You will end up with a beautiful, shiny finish.  :)

The balloons are raised on dimensionals & sit on two white, layered banners.  The bottom layer is embossed with the decorative dots embossing folder, which is a bit hard to see because I was trying so hard to capture the shine on the balloons....

I really loved the reverse colour of the sentiment on the original project, & have achieved that by using white embossing powder on the Watermelon Wonder cardstock with a sentiment from the SAB set, "Botanicals for You".  (I ♥ that set!)  The balloons are tied with silver metallic thread.

Here are the projects that inspired my design:-

Botanicals for You & Bear Hugs for CASE-ing the Catty #65

Hello & welcome to this week's CASE-ing the Catty's Blog Hop!

Each week the Crew members will take inspiration from a section or theme of the current Stampin' Up Catalogues to create their projects.  The acronym "CASE" stands for "Copy And Share Everything" or, as I prefer, "Copy And Selectively Edit".

This week the CTC Crew are choosing to create a Valentine's project, inspired by the Occasions, Sale-A-Bration &/or Annual Stampin' Up! catalogues.

I really wanted to use the cute stamps & dies from the Bear Hugs bundle, & have CASED the layout of the striped card on page 40 of the Occasions catalogue:-

Isn't that fuzzy wuzzy bear adorable?  (I realise this guy is probably one of those "love it" or "hate it" stamps, but I have both feet firmly planted in the former camp, lol!)

Here is the inspiration for my card:-

I tweaked the format slightly to accommodate both the bear & the largish sentiment (which comes from my favourite SAB set - Botanicals For You).  I really liked the piercing & distressed edges on the sample, but decided the crisp edge on DSP worked much better in this instance.  I added some white cardstock behind my feature panel, to help accentuate the pierced border:-

To get the curled arms on the bear, I first stamped & die-cut the bear & then re-stamped the bear on the reverse side of the die-cut.  To give him some variation in colour, I dragged a blender pen over the early espresso stamped image, to make the colour bleed.  I've added the tiniest amount of crystal effects to his eyes, nose & claws.  To make him sit off the panel slightly, I have die-cut two other bears, chopped off their arms completely & then layered them under the feature bear.  The heart is raised up on two layers of dimensionals & the sentiment on one.

The heart also comes from the the Bear Hugs set (inked with a marker to exclude the sentiment) & the awesome DSP is from the Botanical Gardens suite.
