JAI39 - Just Add Blue

As the title suggests, this week's theme at JAI is Just Add Blue in recognition of October being Anxiety and Depression Awareness Month.  Find out more at beyondblue.org.au

You can play along & check out the Design Team's inspiration pieces HERE.

Here is my very blue entry:-

I have created a bag front & card for my sister, who is about to travel overseas on a "quilting" tour.  The inspiration for the bag front came from this clever card by Lynda.  I have resized the pattern, using a 2.1/2" central square & then panelling with 3/4" wide DSP & stamped strips.

The bag is the perfect size for a nice new novel, to fill in some time on the plane trip!  The bookmark attaches to the front of the card, being tucked under the scalloped oval (which is raised up on dimensionals) & clipped with a cute mini library clip, like this:-

The image on the bookmark has been stamped with both Versamark & Not Quite Navy ink & then clear embossed to give a raised, shiny finish.  The card is based on one of Makeesha's sketches (here is a link to the sketch).

Here is a close-up of the panelling on the giftbag:-

Project Components:
Cardstock:  Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla
DSP:  Bella Bleu
Stamp Sets:  SU Artistic Elements, PTI Everyday Button Bits (Sentiments)
Inks:  Versamark, Not Quite Navy
Other:  Dimensionals, Mini Library Clip, Satin Ribbons, Cotton Lace, Mini RicRac, Kraft Paper Bag, Wide Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch

What a beautiful gift. I especially like the quilted look on the bag front and I might have to CASE this idea as my mum and SILs are keen quilters!
